Two legends from the world of motorsport are revving up support for a Chorley children’s charity.
As part of Foggy and Whit: The King and I, hit chat show, which visits Preston in September, four-times World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty and his good friend and former British champion James Whitham have committed to raising funds for Derian House.
‘Foggy’ will also visit Derian House to meet the children on August 10.
Foggy & Whit: The King and I, will be the pair’s first stage appearance since Carl was crowned winner of I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! last year.
Carl and James are set to appear at the Guild Hall on September 23.
In the four years they’ve been touring the show they’ve raised more than £30,000 for charities around the UK.
Carl, who hails from Blackburn, said: “The people behind Derian House do some amazing work and we couldn’t think of a better cause.
“Our aim is to raise as much money as we possibly can through the charity raffle and hopefully highlight the charity’s good deeds in the process.
“Whit and I are really looking forward to coming.
“We’ve toured for a few years but we’ve never played in this part of Lancashire.”
Derian House volunteers will be selling raffle tickets at Tesco in Chorley on Saturday August 8, with the winners receiving a pair of VIP tickets to the show at the Guild Hall.
They will also sell tickets on the night of the show itself to win prizes donated by Foggy, and the proceeds from this raffle will be donated to the children’s hospice.
John Rullo, fund-raiser at Derian House said: “We’re really pleased Carl and his team chose to support us and we know that our children will be thrilled to receive a visit from the four-time champion.”
The celebrity support has come at a welcome time for the hospice, which only receives enough government funding to keep its doors open for seven weeks of the year, and relies on its own efforts to raise the rest of its £3.5m annual target.
