Marathon man Ben Ashworth has one more marathon to go in his quest to run six in six months, and with his £10,000 charity target also in sight a night of music has been laid on to help him over the line
With just one more marathon to go, Ben Ashworth is nearing completion of tackling six marathons in six months.
And with his £10,000 fund-raising target in site, a night of pure decadence next weekend is to be held to help his reach the milestone.
The 33-year-old, who was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer two years ago, is the inspiration behind a Bank Holiday spectacular which will take partygoers through all of music’s finest decades in just one night.
Greg of Picturesound – who will host the ‘Decadence’ event at The Ferret on Fylde Road, Preston on Sunday, August 24 – said: “The night will work in reverse.
“First up we will have the amazing ‘Davos Live’ covering the 1990’s, then we have ‘PRTYDSYRYR’, an incredible local DJ, Preston’s best kept secret, making a rare live appearance, who will dabble in the 90s and 80s.
“That 70s Fro’ is a hand picked group of local musicians who will take care of the 1970s with their own take on classics from the decade, followed by headliners ‘Jim Quake And The Techtonic Plates’ who will close the show with a foot stomping 1960s blast.”
Following the live acts, there will be DJs until late who will take care of the 1950s rock n roll era.
Greg added: “We want to support Ben with his aspiration to raise money for some very worthwhile charities and help him reach the £10,000 mark.”
Money raised on the evening will go towards Ben’s fund supporting the Rosemere Cancer Centre where he is receiving treatment, Macmillan Cancer Support, Beating Bowel Cancer and Clic Sargent.
Doors 7.30pm. £4 entry, £5 with a raffle ticket.
