This year’s Longton Live music and arts festival is set to be one of the best yet – with more than 140 appearances at 18 venues across the village.
Taking place on Friday and Saturday night (July 13 and 14), the festival returns for its fifth year, with the usual mix of pop, acoustic, rock, blues, folk, classical, choral and jazz music; as well as drama, comedy and open mic slots.
In total, over 80 performers will take to the stage at 18 different locations in Longton.
Organiser Nigel Stewart, from Creative Network, said: “This year’s festival has coincided with some great weather which we hope will contribute to some big audiences, all enjoying a terrific evening of music.
“The number of bands and artists we’ve managed to attract this year is truly phenomenal, and speaks volumes about the appeal of this event.”
Nigel added: “At just £5 for a wristband, you can experience so many different types of music over two days at 18 venues!”
The £5 wristbands allow access to all performances at all venues for both Friday and Saturday. Under-12s go free.
Longton Live is organised by the Creative Network, with support from South Ribble Borough Council’s Western Parishes Neighbourhood Forum.
Coun Michael Green, Cabinet Member for Corporate Support and Community Engagement at South Ribble Council, said: “I’m proud to say that this year’s Longton Live will be bigger and better than ever.
I’m so grateful to Nigel, all the venues, and all the artists for coming together to provide the people of Longton with such a treat this summer! There’s the World Cup, there’s Wimbledon, but most importantly, there’s Longton Live!”
Schedules for Friday and Saturday night can be found at www.southribble.gov.uk/longtonlive – with hard copies available at all festival venues from today (Tuesday 10 July) onwards.
Parents are advised to check with participating venues beforehand for any age restrictions in place.
The first performances of the night start at 7pm at all venues, with the last act on stage at approximately 10pm.
