Salford will come alive to the striking sound of rattling washboards and more on Saturday when guitarist and banjoist Warren James treats the city to his Skiffle Session concert at The Lowry.
Acoustic star James is an addictively-exuberant folk-rocker who combines the best of Americana roots music with almost manic energy.
He explains: “Skiffle is black roots music. Blues, country, folk and jazz which grew out of a huge variety of sounds in New Orleans.
“The songs are often trad, they’re simple, fun and require little more than three chords on a guitar
“It’s also the UK’s original acoustic-pop and has an important place in the present.”
