Two productions by the world famous Bolshoi Ballet will be beamed into Lancaster’s Dukes cinema this month and next.
Spartacus will be screened on October 20 while Le Corsaire can be seen on November 17.
Spartacus has spectacular scenery and choreographer Yuri Grigorovich’s version remains the most critically acclaimed.
This grandiose epic is one of Khachaturian’s most famous works and has been considered one of the greats ballets in the Bolshoi repertoire since the 1960s.
Le Corsaire is a ballet in three acts loosely based on the long poem by Lord Byron.
It is a swashbuckling romantic tale of the rescue of a beautiful slave from her tyrannical master by a handsome pirate, featuring some of ballet’s most famous sequences.
